- Cleaning milkweed
- Refreshing/switching out caterpillar food (milkweed)
- Handling/moving caterpillars
- Cleaning frass (caterpillar feces)
- Cleaning lab equipment
- OE Testing
Our lab is a sterile environment in which we rear nearly 1,000 caterpillars each May. Rearing, particularly in the lab, can be incredibly time consuming. To volunteer in the lab, techniques must be learned to ensure the safety & proper care of our critters! Working with caterpillars is one of the joys of the Monarch Research Station & we hope to share that experience with some interested volunteers!
