Volunteers in Proficiency (VIP) is a literacy program that pairs volunteers and elementary school students together to read once a week during the school day.
Volunteer In Proficiency (VIP) volunteers for Cedar Rapids Community School District will meet with students at the selected VIP schools once a week for 40 minutes. School-based reading experts provide volunteer training and appropriate books for students.
Grant Elementary School VIP opportunities are available Monday through Thursday. The shift you sign up for will be the day of the week that you volunteer for the rest of the 12 week session.
This program begins the week of January 27 and ends April 23. By signing up you are committing to read with students weekly.
New VIP volunteers will be provided a brief orientation and training.VIP volunteers will be subject to a background check before beginning your volunteer activity.
