WRAP is dedicated to providing freedom to individuals who are homebound due to mobility issues. Our clients are in need of ADA-compliant accessibility ramps for safe home access, and WRAP Design Specialists are at the center of these impactful projects! We provide training and guidance for you as you take on this challenging volunteer role.
Key Responsibilities
As a WRAP Design Specialist, you will:
- visit the build site and talk with the client about their needs,
- create a design plan and materials list using our software tools - or your own,
- collaborate with a passionate team dedicated to creating meaningful impact
- help WRAP continue its mission of building accessibility and independence for those we serve,
- report construction details post-build.
In Addition, the Design Specialist may:
- obtain building permits,
- schedule the build date and request volunteer workers using our private distribution list,
- order building materials,
- lead construction of the ramp,
- report construction details post-build.
Qualifications
- Knowledge, or desire to learn ADA-compliant ramp design and construction,
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and via email with our clients and other volunteers,
- Knowledge of MS Office - Excel and PowerPoint helpful,
- Personal transportation required,
- Ability to collaborate effectively and accept feedback,
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to take ownership of projects.
