About the event
Meals on Heels is an evening of great food, beverages, and entertainment to support Horizons. For the second year in a row, local rockstar Alizabeth Von Presley will host the event with other special guests. You are invited to bring your best shoe game! Whether it’s fancy new shoes, decked out old shoes or a new shoe invention, everyone will have an option to be entered into a laid-back, yet wild shoe contest.
The food
You will have access to a full buffet, featuring food from local restaurants, including Carlos O’Kelly’s, Applebee’s, Mandarin Spice and Sweet Cheesecake.
The shoes
Wear your best, favorite, or most imaginative shoes for a chance to win a lot of high-fives and a shiny trophy. The categories we will be judging are casual, fancy and most creative. This is a friendly competition and attendees are not required to participate.
Live & silent auctions
One week prior to event you will receive access to view our can’t-be-missed silent auction. You will also be able to view the items at the event. The silent auction will close at the end of the event and winners are able to take their items home.
A live auction, including several big-ticket items, will be available for bidding during the event.
The venue
The Olympic Southside Theater is a unique, gorgeous and elegant event venue located in the heart of Newbo in Cedar Rapids.
Our hostess
We’re thrilled to welcome local rockstar, dancer, small business owner, Alizabeth Von Presley as our Meals on Heels hostess! She will be joined by several other special guests who will share stories about Horizons Meals on Wheels and the impact it has on our community.
