New Disciples Of Cedar Rapids

We are a small and growing congregation that is part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We strive to intentionally care for our neighbors in ways that help, instead of hurt. We are specifically interested in doing projects that help to feed our neighbors and build unity amidst diversity. We hope that through the United Way we might build community around our Garden of Hope on the SW side. This is a garden where neighbors garden together and share in the produce. Any produce that is not claimed will be distributed through Feed Iowa First, Meals on Wheels, HACAP and similar programs. | New Disciples was born through the merging of First Christian Church and Cedar Christian Church shortly after the flood. We officially opened in October of 2011. We first met in a store front on the SW side and currently meet in the basement of Edgewood Community Church.  We own land that is located on Williams Blvd. between Menards and Highway 30.

Our Vision: to provide meaningful worship opportunities; to provide physical, social, and spiritual nourishment for our neighbors; to create a community of care and love; to create a safe and welcoming place for exploring a relationship with Jesus Christ; to intentionally encourage opportunities for leadership development; to be a multi-generational, multi-cultural community of faith; to share our faith with all generations, those who came before us, those who walk beside us, and those we have yet to meet.
