Jones County Safe And Healthy Youth Coalition

The Coalition is a group of local residents, professionals, and youth who have come together for a common goal--the safety and well-being of our communities and children, particularly reducing youth substance use and its negative consequences. The Coalition is made up of people from all the sectors and strive to have representatives from all the communities in Jones County. | The community efforts of the Coalition started back in 2005 after the school districts in Jones County began a Grant to Reduce Alcohol Abuse in response to tragedies and overwhelmingly high rates of underage drinking. These efforts have contributed to the decrease in underage drinking and other youth substance use. In 2008, the Jones County Safe and Healthy Youth Coalition expanded its efforts to include marijuana, tobacco, and prescription drugs, as well as always keeping a pulse on emerging trends.

Our Mission statement is: Engaging our communities in efforts to reduce substance abuse through creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for youth and adults in Jones County. Our Coalition vision for Jones County is a safe, healthy place to live work and play!
