Jones County Volunteer Center & RSVP

Who We Are

Jones County Volunteer Center focuses on volunteering in areas that have the most impact in our community. There are both individual and group opportunities for volunteering in a variety of settings. They include volunteering for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), winter weatherization, transportation, food pantries, Medicare insurance counseling, and clerical assistance. There are both one time and continual volunteer opportunities. This is just a sample list of possible options available to individuals or groups interested in giving their time. Jones County Volunteer Center & RSVP is sponsored by United Way of East Central Iowa. Programs are funded in part by Heritage Agency on Aging, St. Luke's Rural Healthcare Foundation, Mercy Medical Center, Jones Regional Medical Center, VITA, DHS, Iowa Commission on Volunteer Services, and the Jones County Board of Supervisors. | An amendment to the Older Americans Act of 1969 created the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. RSVP if a federal program under the guidelines of the Corporation for National and Community Service. The Linn County RSVP began in 1981 and the program was expanded to Jones County in 2005. In 2011 RSVP of Jones County expanded to include a Volunteer Center for all ages of volunteers looking to make a difference within Jones County.
