At Central Furniture Rescue (CFR), we believe that everyone deserves a place to call home. Our mission is to provide basic furniture and household essentials to individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration, or other crisis situations. By repurposing donated furniture and household items, we transform empty spaces into homes, offering dignity, stability, and a fresh start to those in need.

We work through a referral system with local nonprofits, ensuring that support reaches the most vulnerable members of our community. With the help of dedicated volunteers and generous donors, CFR has served thousands of households across the Cedar Rapids area.

At Central Furniture Rescue (CFR), we provide essential furniture and household items to individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration, and other crises. Through a referral-based model, we partner with local nonprofits to identify those in need and furnish their homes—free of charge.

By collecting and repurposing donated furniture, we divert usable items from landfills while ensuring that every household we serve has the basics for daily living:
