Riders Club is the car someone no longer drives. We do this by coordinating volunteer drivers with those in need to provide a low cost transportation option in the Cedar Rapids area.

Rides are available 24-7 and the office is open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm. Let us know when you are available and we will set up rides according to your availability!

Become a volunteer driver with the American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program and provide rides as requested from cancer patients to and from their cancer treatments. Most rides take place during the hours of 7AM-6PM, Monday through Friday. The frequency of requests and times vary daily depending on how many patients need a ride at any given time. Every volunteer driver donates their time and gas - and can decide how often to provide rides, when, and how far! This is a very flexible and meaningful program - which can be lifesaving for cancer patients who have no other transportation options.

Volunteer drivers must have:

* A current, valid driver’s license and between the ages of 18-84
* A good driving record
* Access to a safe and reliable vehicle
* Proof of adequate automobile insurance

Aging Services strives to keep older adults as independent and active for as long as possible by providing a wide variety of programs and resources. 

Aging Services provides volunteer-based transportation services free of charge to older adults in our community so they are able to get to and from medical appointments and essential errands such as food banks and the pharmacy. Volunteers give their time, but are reimbursed mileage! 

The transportation program runs Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Volunteers are notified a week in advance of potential driving opportunities, which the volunteer is able to accept or decline.  We love working with your schedule and are very flexible!

Volunteers are fully trained and must be willing to complete background checks.  Aging Services is a certified Service Enterprise agency...join our efforts and learn more about how we support our community as a team! 

Drivers are needed to transport people in the community to medical facilities for various medical appointments. The Benton County Volunteer Center provides medical transportation assistance for people who cannot drive, do not have family or friends available to drive, or cannot afford transportation to medical appointments. Clients are usually sixty years of age or older. Volunteer drivers give their time but receive mileage reimbursement.

Volunteers must successfully complete a background check, posses a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and a willingness to go through volunteer medical transportation assistance training if required.

Every ride is a story. We need volunteers for drivers and van lift drivers to transport local individuals to necessary appointments round trip. This role offers mileage reimbursement and is a great way to give back to the local community! Volunteer a day a week or a couple a month.

Our volunteers use their own vehicles, set their own hours, and receive up to $0.58 per mile for trips completed. Volunteer Services primary purpose is to provide transportation for Cedar County elderly and medical needy residents. Our volunteers provide services that enable residents to remain in their homes and in the community.

Serve the community with-door to door service for seniors that require transportation services. Training for this position will be provided. You will be given a clear understanding of the procedures and ongoing support. The Transportation Coordinator and staff will always be available for questions and assistance.

The Jones County Volunteer Center & RSVP offers an assisted transportation program for seniors (age 55+) who need rides to non-emergency medical appointments outside of the county. Volunteer drivers arrive at the clients home at a predetermined time, use their personal vehicles to transport the client to their appointment, wait for them there, and transport them back to their home. Volunteer drivers also provide companionship during the transport. You would be educated on other resources available to seniors in Jones County and can share that information as the need arises. The transportation program ensures seniors are able to stay living independently longer, while receiving quality medical care as needed. This volunteer activity requires a complete criminal background and motor vehicle records check. Volunteers must attend necessary orientation and annual training meetings, possess valid Iowa driver's license, Approved Motor Vehicle Records check from the Iowa Department of Transportation, present proof of automobile insurance each renewal period, have access to a safe and roadworthy automobile. You'll also need the ability to relate to older adults with empathy and patience, good listening skills, and potentially the ability to assist clients in and out of the car.  Volunteers in this program do receive mileage reimbursement.
