Volunteer: Oral History Transcription VolunteerPosition Summary Transcription volunteers will work with the Curator to transcribe oral history interviews collected in Linn County. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transcribe video/audio recordings of interviews with community members.Qualifications Strong keyboarding skills. Experience using common software programs, including Microsoft Word. Prior experience with transcribing from audio recordings preferred but not required. Attention to detail
Commitment The estimated work time is flexible, but the volunteer should be able to commit at least 2-3 hours per week to the project or volunteer on an interview by interview basis. Work can be done during select hours at the Museum, or at home (no supplies provided). Volunteers will need to meet with the Curator for training and follow-up.

Volunteer: Administrative VolunteerPosition Description Volunteers will primarily focus on assisting the Administrative Coordinator with day-to-day functions of the office, such as data entry, proof-reading, and preparation of mailings. Volunteers may also assist with preparation for special events and the move to the Douglas Mansion in 2018. Volunteers will gain first-hand knowledge of the daily operations of a museum office. This is a good volunteer opportunity for college students seeking arts administration experience. Interested students may inquire about the possibility of an administrative internship. Depending on interest, volunteers may also be given training in social media marketing and Google analytics. Hours are flexible and will be determined by the volunteer’s schedule. It is preferable if volunteers can commit to a 3-4 hour weekly shift.Experience and Skills Applicants do not need prior office experience, but should be well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite. Applicants should be organized and have good writing skills. Graphic and web design skills are useful, but not necessary. Volunteers may be given some training in using WordPress. All volunteers should possess the ability to work independently or on a team, work on multiple tasks at one time, be detail-oriented, and well-organized.
