Vigil Volunteers offer compassionate companionship to patients who are actively dying, ensuring that no one has to face the end of life alone. Volunteers may sit quietly at a patient's bedside, hold a hand, read aloud, play soft music, share comforting conversation, or simply provide a peaceful, reassuring presence. Vigil Volunteers also offer support to family members by allowing them to step away briefly to rest, eat, or tend to personal needs, knowing their loved one is not alone. Vigil visits take place wherever a patient calls home, including private residences, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities. Visits are scheduled based on patient need and volunteer availability, and volunteers are contacted when a vigil is requested. No medical or personal care is provided.
