Train to Become a Volunteer Victim Advocate with Waypoint

Looking to increase your skills while performing meaningful work? Becoming a Domestic Violence Volunteer Advocate enables you to directly assist individuals experiencing controlling, abusive partners. As this type of volunteer, you may support victims:

  • In medical and legal settings
  • Over the phone
  • In individual and group settings

Ideal candidates are non-judgmental, compassionate, encouraging, and empowering. Volunteers must be at least 21-years-old, pass a criminal background check, and complete 32 hours of training.

16 hours of the training is completed online, while 16 hours will be completed in-person with an advocate on Monday, July 10-Thursday, July 13 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. each night at Grant Wood AEA in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Online training must be completed prior to July 10.
