Having a volunteer to monitor our laundry and help organize the clean items is a huge help towards making sure we have the necessary clothing and linens for our clients. This position also helps us to redistribute donations we cannot use to other agencies. These volunteers will put items into the washer and dryer, organize the donation areas (relevant to items being washed), communicate information to the staff, and coordinate with other agencies on donations we cannot take that they may be able to use.
This is a flexible, on-call opportunity.
- Depending on the needs each week, laundry volunteers may be called in to aid our regularly scheduled donation room organizers. A volunteer would be contacted either by email or phone when we need extra help with laundry. Volunteers will have the opportunity to accept or turndown the offer on a day-by-day basis.
- Please bring a book or something to work on in between loads. Each cycle takes about 40 minutes and depending on how long it takes to fold/hang you may have some down time. You will have access to our breakroom or conference room in between loads.
