Volunteer Job Description
Do you enjoy helping older adults with their phone or technology questions? Do spreadsheets send a thrill down your spine? Does Facebook have a special place in your heart? Do you have skills in social media just waiting to be used? Then you are the perfect person for this volunteer assignment. In addition, you will get a great deal of satisfaction in helping those of us in the baby boomer generation with technology skills that we just have not quite developed as much as we’d like.
Description:
The technology support volunteer will be responsible for one or more of these tasks based on the volunteeer’s skills and/or interests. 1) Assisting with developing and maintaining LEC websites and social media sites, or creating documents within a variety of computer programs. 2) Setting up spreadsheets, mailing lists and creating mail merge documents for sending out to our members. 3) Maintaining databases of information important to our organization.
Qualifications:
Technology support volunteers should have a moderately high level of ability and comfort with major computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Canva. Comfort with social media creation and maintenance are important to this assignment. An ability and willingness to learn other computer programs needed to run our organization is desirable.
Times Needed:
Communication Assistants have some flexibility as to when they can do their assignment. The assignment can be done at the LEC during our regular programming times of Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings or, if desired, depending on assignment, may be done from their home.
All volunteers are required to be interviewed prior to volunteering and to attend an orientation to our organization as well as an orientation to their specific volunteer assignment
