This group meets weekly to prepare materials for the schools and nursing homes, make pillows for cancer treatment patients, and a number of other community based activities.  

Drivers are needed to transport people in the community to medical facilities for various medical appointments. The Benton County Volunteer Center provides medical transportation assistance for people who cannot drive, do not have family or friends available to drive, or cannot afford transportation to medical appointments. Clients are usually sixty years of age or older. Volunteer drivers give their time but receive mileage reimbursement.

Volunteers must successfully complete a background check, posses a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and a willingness to go through volunteer medical transportation assistance training if required.

Are you interested in helping our community during future disasters?  United Way of East Central Iowa helps in the coordination of volunteers through the Volunteer Now website and supports the relief effort of State and Federal relief organizations and the Linn Area Partners Active In Disaster (LAP-AID).   LAP-AID is a coalition of 30+ organizations seeking to build a better-prepared and more resilient Linn County.
