Volunteer: Encore Cafe Volunteer @ St. Mark's UMC
Thank you for your interest in helping at Encore Café at our St. Mark's United Methodist location! We are looking for a couple more volunteers to add to this great team we have. We aim to have 5 volunteers per day and also need subs that we can call in the event of sickness, travel or appt. times that come up for other volunteers. This means that you probably would not need to commit to helping every Tuesday, and you can sign up monthly for those that work for you or have spaces that need filled. What we like to do is have prospective volunteers to come and visit an Encore Café first to get an idea of what Encore Café IS, what we do and how our mealtimes are run—to make sure it’s something that they are (still) interested in helping out with, as well as get to know them a bit as well as talk about availability. In general, we set up around 10:15 and serve from 11:30-12:30. We would also treat you to a fabulous lunch as that is a perk of being a volunteer as well, we all eat together about 12:15 before we clean up. We are generally cleaned up and out of there anywhere between 1 and 1:30. (Volunteers wear jeans and comfy shoes, just so you know.)
Tasks: Provide a happy and warm atmosphere by greeting participants and making them feel welcome. Serve and assist participants as necessary. Clean and sanitize table after meal service. Assist in setting up and taking down serving line. etc. Follow directions of Site Coordinator or person in charge. Maintain proper cleanliness and follow all food safety guidelines. Complete food employee/volunteer illness reporting form annuallySkills: Friendly personality and good personal interaction skills/ “people” person. Basic communication skills Friendly person Customer service drivenAbilities: Ability to think independently Ability to be flexible with assigned tasks Customer service oriented
