Who We Are
The Cedar Valley Humane Society receives no federal or state funding, nor are we associated with any national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA. We rely solely on service fees and donations from the local community to enable us to offer vital services such as animal rescue and critical care for homeless, abandoned, abused, sick, and neglected animals. | The Cedar Valley Humane Society is a nonprofit organization in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Established in 1901, the organization's early cases involved cruelty and abuse of women, children, the elderly, and animals. As time passed, the focus narrowed to animal welfare, In 1968, the organization built and moved into its current facility. In 1991, we became the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Our shelter can accommodate 50 dogs and 200 cats. We offer refuge to nearly 2,000 homeless animals each year.
